In a time of racial tension, when the Klu Klux Klan
dominated the daily life and political realm of Indiana, seven admirable young ladies endured in the face adversity. While
education for African-Americans was difficult to attain, seven illustrious ladies became educators. They believed that self-respect,
knowledge and discipline gained through study would help individuals recognize their duty and responsibility to their society.
They saw the need to create an opportunity for African
American women to aid in the advancement of their community through their most powerful resource--education. Thus, on November
